trimpex and Cyclosporine Interactions

Interactions between trimpex(trimethoprim) and Cyclosporine (cycloSPORINE)

cycloSPORINE and trimethoprim (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: Increased serum creatinine levels and decreased efficacy of cyclosporine have been reported when administered concurrently with trimethoprim. The mechanism of this interaction is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if these medications must be used concomitantly. The patient's renal function and efficacy and safety of both drugs should be monitored during concomitant administration. Use of an alternative antibiotic may be appropriate.
