Interactions between trimpex(trimethoprim) and Captopril (captopril)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction captopril and trimethoprim (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: The concurrent use of trimethoprim and hyperkalemia-inducing drugs may increase the risk of hyperkalemia. The mechanism is additive pharmacodynamic effects.

MANAGEMENT: Serum potassium levels should be checked frequently during concomitant therapy. Trimethoprim should be discontinued if hyperkalemia occurs. Patients should be advised to report any possible symptoms of hyperkalemia such as weakness, listlessness, confusion, tingling of the extremities, or feelings of heaviness in the legs to their physician.
