Interactions between tolazamide(TOLAZamide) and Acitretin (acitretin)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction TOLAZamide and acitretin (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: Acitretin in the presence of sulfonylureas may lead to enhanced clearance of blood glucose. The mechanism and the clinical significance of this interaction are unknown. In addition, increases and decreases in fasting blood glucose have been reported with acitretin alone.

MANAGEMENT: The manufacturer of acitretin recommends that diabetic patients be observed closely for altered blood glucose levels. Patients should be advised to regularly monitor their blood sugar, counseled on how to recognize and treat hypoglycemia (e.g., headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, tremor, hunger, weakness, or palpitations), and to notify their physician if loss of glycemic control occurs.
