Interactions between singulair(montelukast) and Amobarbital (amobarbital)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction amobarbital and montelukast (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: Inducers of hepatic microsomal enzymes CYP450 3A4 or 2C9 can increase the plasma clearance of montelukast, which is metabolized by these enzymes. Data are available for phenobarbital, which decreased the area under the concentration-time curve of montelukast by 40%.

MANAGEMENT: No dosage adjustments for montelukast are recommended by the manufacturer if phenobarbital is coadministered. Be aware of the possibility of reduced efficacy associated with montelukast if these drugs are given together.
