Interactions between rifampin and Ranolazine (ranolazine)
rifampin and ranolazine (Major Drug-Drug)
GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration with rifampin may significantly decrease the plasma concentrations of ranolazine. The mechanism is rifampin induction of CYP450 3A4 and P-glycoprotein, which results in increased metabolism and intestinal efflux of ranolazine. In pharmacokinetic studies, rifampin (600 mg once a day) has been shown to reduce the plasma concentrations of ranolazine (1000 mg twice a day) by approximately 95%.
MANAGEMENT: The use of ranolazine in combination with rifampin should be avoided.
