Applies to:Zantac 25 mg EFFERdose (ranitidine) and Reyataz (atazanavir)
Talk to your doctor before using atazanavir together with ranitidine. Taking the doses too close together may interfere with the absorption of atazanavir and reduce its effectiveness. To prevent or minimize the interaction, atazanavir and ranitidine should be taken as far apart as possible, preferably 10 to 12 hours apart. You may also need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
