Interactions between pioglitazone and Dalalone l a (dexamethasone)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction dexamethasone and pioglitazone (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: Pioglitazone is a substrate of the hepatic isoenzyme CYP450 3A4. Clinicians should be aware of the potential for an interaction when pioglitazone is used in combination with another medication that is metabolized by and also induces CYP450 3A4.

MANAGEMENT: Patients should be observed for clinical and laboratory evidence of altered safety and efficacy of both drugs if pioglitazone is added to or removed from the patient's medication regimen. Patients should be advised to report loss of blood sugar control to their physician.
