Interactions between metamucil(psyllium) and Eskalith cr (lithium)

lithium and psyllium (Minor Drug-Drug)

A case has been reported in which a woman was admitted to a psychiatric unit due to "behavioral changes" probably due to low lithium levels caused by ingestion of psyllium. Psyllium was believed to have inhibited the absorption of lithium from the gastrointestinal tract. Psyllium should be ingested at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after the lithium dose.
