Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction acetoHEXAMIDE and magaldrate (Moderate Drug-Drug)

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Some antacids may significantly increase the absorption rate and in some cases the extent of absorption of oral sulfonylureas. The hypoglycemic effects of these agents may be altered.

MANAGEMENT: Sulfonylureas should be administered at least two hours before or after antacids. Patients should be advised to regularly monitor their blood sugar, counseled on how to recognize and treat hypoglycemia (e.g., headache, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, tremor, hunger, weakness, or palpitations) and to notify their physician if it occurs.
