Drug interactions between Lanoxin and Rythmol SR

digoxin ⇔ propafenone

Applies to: Lanoxin (digoxin) and Rythmol SR (propafenone)

MONITOR: Propafenone may increase digoxin serum levels. Toxicity may result. The mechanism may be related to changes in the volume of distribution and in the renal and nonrenal clearance of digoxin.

MANAGEMENT: If these drugs must be used together, the patient should be monitored closely for evidence of digoxin toxicity. Patients should be advised to notify their physicians if they experience signs of digoxin toxicity such as nausea, anorexia, visual disturbances, slow pulse, or irregular heartbeats.
