Interactions between isentress(raltegravir) and Tipranavir (tipranavir)
tipranavir and raltegravir (Minor Drug-Drug)
Coadministration with tipranavir/ritonavir may reduce the plasma concentrations of raltegravir. The proposed mechanism is induction of raltegravir glucuronidation via uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) 1A1. In two clinical trials, comparable efficacy was observed in approximately 100 subjects who received raltegravir in combination with tipranavir/ritonavir relative to subjects who did not receive tipranavir/ritonavir. Based on these data, no dosage adjustment of raltegravir is necessary when used together with tipranavir/ritonavir.
