Interactions between gamulin-rh(RHo (D) immune globulin) and Mumpsvax (mumps virus vaccine)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction RHo (D) immune globulin and mumps virus vaccine (Moderate Drug-Drug)

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Antibodies found in immune globulins may interfere with the immune response to live vaccines.

MANAGEMENT: Varicella vaccine should not be given for at least 5 months after, and other live vaccines should not be given for at least 3 months after administration of immune globulin. It has been recommended that administration of measles virus vaccine be deferred for at least 8 months following immune globulin intravenous-human therapy for immunodeficiency disease; for 8 to 10 months following treatment for immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP); and for at least 11 months following administration for Kawasaki syndrome. If it is deemed necessary that immune globulin and measles virus vaccine be simultaneously administered, injection sites should be as remote as possible, and an additional dose of vaccine should be administered at the above specified interval. An additional dose of live measles, mumps or rubella vaccine is usually not needed if the vaccine has been administered at least two weeks prior to immune globulin administration. Hepatitis B immune globulin has been reported to not interfere with measles vaccination, although data are limited.
