Interactions between ethosuximide and Ghb (sodium oxybate)

Major Drug-Drug Interaction ethosuximide and sodium oxybate (Major Drug-Drug)

GENERALLY AVOID: The CNS and respiratory-depressant effects of sodium oxybate may be potentiated by other agents with CNS-depressant effects. In addition, animal studies have suggested that sodium oxybate plasma concentrations are increased by phenytoin and decreased by ethosuximide and trimethadione by an unknown mechanism.

MANAGEMENT: CNS depressants be avoided during sodium oxybate therapy.
