Interactions between deferoxamine and Prochlorperazine extended release (prochlorperazine)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction prochlorperazine and deferoxamine (Moderate Drug-Drug)

GENERALLY AVOID: Limited data suggest that the concomitant administration of deferoxamine and prochlorperazine may result in transient metabolic encephalopathy. Loss of consciousness for 48 to 72 hours has been reported in 2 patients. The mechanism is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: The manufacturer recommends that concomitant use should be avoided.
