Interactions between cefzil(cefprozil) and Chloracol (chloramphenicol)

Minor Drug-Drug Interaction chloramphenicol and cefprozil (Minor Drug-Drug)

Limited data suggest that chloramphenicol may inhibit the bactericidal activity of cephalosporins. Data are available for ceftazidime only. The mechanism is thought to be inhibition of protein synthesis by chloramphenicol, resulting in less protein substrate for cephalosporins to act on as cell wall synthesis inhibitors. The effectiveness of cephalosporins should be monitored during coadministration.
