Interactions between casodex(bicalutamide) and Methotrexate sodium preservative free (methotrexate)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction methotrexate and bicalutamide (Moderate Drug-Drug)

GENERALLY AVOID: Coadministration of methotrexate with other agents known to induce hepatotoxicity may potentiate the risk of liver injury. Methotrexate, especially at higher doses or with prolonged treatment, has been associated with hepatotoxicity including acute hepatitis, chronic fibrosis, necrosis, cirrhosis, and liver enzyme elevations.

MANAGEMENT: The use of methotrexate in combination with other potentially hepatotoxic agents (e.g., alcohol; androgens and anabolic steroids; antituberculous agents; azole antifungal agents; ACE inhibitors; endothelin receptor antagonists; interferons; nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors; thiazolidinediones; anticonvulsants such as carbamazepine, hydantoins, felbamate, and valproic acid; lipid-lowering medications such as fenofibrate, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, and niacin; herbal products such as kava and echinacea) is generally not recommended unless the potential benefit outweighs the risk. Baseline and regular monitoring of hepatic function is recommended.
