Interactions between byetta(exenatide) and Lovastatin extended release (lovastatin)
lovastatin and exenatide (Minor Drug-Drug)
Coadministration with exenatide may decrease the plasma concentrations of lovastatin. The mechanism of interaction has not been described. Lovastatin peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) were decreased approximately 28% and 40%, respectively, and time to reach peak plasma concentration (Tmax) was delayed about 4 hours when exenatide (10 mcg twice daily) was administered concomitantly with a single dose of lovastatin (40 mg) compared with lovastatin administered alone. The clinical significance of these changes is unknown. In 30-week controlled clinical trials of exenatide, the use of exenatide in patients receiving HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors was not associated with consistent changes in lipid profiles compared to baseline.
