Interactions between your drugs

Moderate

prednisoLONE bisacodyl

Applies to: Flo-Pred (prednisolone) and Bisac-Evac (bisacodyl)

Talk to your doctor before using prednisoLONE together with any kind of medication that has a laxative effect. Combining these medications, especially over a prolonged period, may increase the risk of dehydration and hypokalemia, or low blood potassium. In severe cases, hypokalemia can lead to muscle weakness, paralysis, breathing and swallowing difficulties (due to muscle paralysis), and irregular heart rhythm. Contact your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, decreased urination, constipation, abdominal cramping, confusion, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, muscle weakness, muscle cramps, numbness or tingling, rapid heart beat, chest pain, and/or swelling in the legs or feet, as these may be symptoms of dehydration and hypokalemia. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
