GENERALLY AVOID: The combination of a polypeptide antibiotic and an aminoglycoside increases the risk of respiratory paralysis and renal dysfunction. The mechanism of this interaction is not known.

MANAGEMENT: This combination should be avoided concurrently or sequentially.
