Interactions between abelcet(amphotericin B lipid complex) and Ancobon (flucytosine)

Moderate Drug-Drug Interaction flucytosine and amphotericin B lipid complex (Moderate Drug-Drug)

MONITOR: Concomitant use of amphotericin B may potentiate the toxicity of flucytosine. The exact mechanism of interaction is unknown but may involve increased cellular uptake of flucytosine or impairment of its renal excretion. The risk of gastrointestinal, hepatic, and hematologic toxicity may be increased.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if flucytosine must be used in patients who are receiving treatment with amphotericin. Blood levels should be monitored and the dose or dosing interval should be adjusted to maintain flucytosine concentrations below 100 mcg/mL.
