Renin inhibitors

What are Renin inhibitors?

Renin inhibitors block the activity of renin and cause vasodilatation. Renin is an enzyme that converts angiotensinogen to angiotensin I, which is then converted to angiotensin II by angiotensin converting enzyme. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor that causes the blood pressure to rise.

Renin inhibitors are used to treat hypertension.
