Usual Adult Dose for Vaginal Candidiasis
Multiple-dose product: Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally once a day, preferably at bedtime, for 3 consecutive days.
Single-dose product: Insert 1 applicatorful intravaginally once.

Precautions
Butoconazole nitrate vaginal cream contains mineral oil which may weaken rubber or latex products, including vaginal diaphragms or condoms; therefore, use of such products is not recommended within 72 hours following treatment.
Safety and efficacy of the single-dose product have not been established in pregnant patients.
Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients (less than 18 years of age).

The diagnosis should be confirmed by KOH smears and/or cultures. If clinical symptoms persist, tests should be repeated to rule out other pathogens, to confirm the original diagnosis, and to rule out other conditions that may predispose a patient to recurrent vaginal fungal infections.
Recurrent vaginal yeast infections, especially those that are difficult to eradicate, can be an early sign of infection with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in women who are considered at risk for HIV infection.
