Usual Adult Dose for Acne

4% or 8% pad:
One application applied topically to the affected area once or twice a day. A thin film should be applied after washing, avoiding eyes, lips, and mucous membranes.

5% pad:
One application applied topically to affected area twice a day.

Usual Pediatric Dose for Acne

5% pad:
Greater than or equal to 12 years:
One application applied topically to affected area twice a day.

Precautions

Contact with eyes, eyelids, lips, and mucous membranes should be avoided. If accidental contact occurs, the exposed area should be rinsed with water.

Benzoyl peroxide-salicylic acid may bleach or discolor clothing.

Exposure to sunlight should be avoided and sunscreens should be used.

Patients should be advised to discontinue use and notify their physician if excessive irritation, scaling, erythema, or edema occurs. After reaction clears, therapy may often be resumed with less frequent application.

Safety and efficacy have not been established in pediatric patients (less than 18 years old).
