volar fingertip flap
Definition: any one of several designs (midline volar, lateral, or bilateral) of triangular island flaps based on subcutaneous perforating vessels. Each flap is designed as a triangle with its base facing the defect, elevated, advanced, and the donor site closed primarily (“V–Y”). Moves vascularized sensate skin of similar texture and specialized quality to close soft tissue fingertip defects.
