Definition: The cured, full-grown, unripe fruit of Vanila planifolia (Mexican or Bourbon vanilla) or of V. tahitensis (Tahiti vanilla), orchids (family Orchidaceae) native to Mexico and cultivated in other tropic countries; a flavoring agent.
