Definition: Increased rate of electrical pacemaker activity in the stomach, defined as more than 4 cycles/minute for at least 1 minute. Normal activity is defined as an electrical signal at a frequency of 2–4 cycles per minute using cutaneous electrogastrography. May be associated with nausea, gastroparesis, irritable bowel syndrome, and functional dyspepsia.
