Somogyi phenomenon
Pronunciation: sō-mō′jē
Definition: a rebound phenomenon of reactive hyperglycemia following a period of relative hypoglycemia, which may be subclinical and difficult to detect; the hyperglycemia induces use of more insulin, thus aggravating the problem.
