Pronunciation: seg′men-tĕr
Definition: A schizont; usually applied to the malaria parasite developing in a red blood cell after having undergone nuclear and cytoplasmic division, just before cell rupture and release of the merozoites.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
