platelet-derived growth factor
Definition: a factor in platelets that is mitogenic for cells at the site of a wound, causing endothelial proliferation; cationic glycoprotein mitogen for fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, and glial cells. Principal factor in serum required for the growth and proliferation of mesenchymal-derived cells in tissue culture.
