pituitary diverticulum
Definition: a tubular outgrowth of ectoderm from the stomodeum of the embryo; it grows dorsad to the infundibular process of the diencephalon, around which it forms a cuplike mass, giving rise to the pars distalis and pars juxtaneuralis of the hypophysis.
