Definition: A colorless poisonous war gas (PH3) with a characteristic garliclike odor; also the active agent in some rodenticides; formed in small quantities in the putrefaction of organic matter containing phosphorus.
Synonym(s): hydrogen phosphide, phosphureted hydrogen
