macrophagic myofascitis
Definition: an inflammatory myopathy detected in patients with diffuse arthromyalgias and severe fatigue; characterized by muscle infiltration by granular periodic acid-Schiff reagent–positive macrophages and lymphocytes. The inclusions detected in the macrophages have been identified as aluminum hydroxide, an immunostimulatory compound used as a vaccine adjuvant.
