Definition: operation in which the volume of a dilated, nonaneurysmal left ventricle is reduced by myocardial resection to improve ventricular geometry and mechanical function and thereby treat end-stage congestive heart failure.
Synonym(s): Battista operation, partial left ventriculectomy, reduction left ventriculoplasty
