Definition: terminal branch of the fibular (peroneal) artery passing laterally and anteriorly over the tibiofibular syndesmosis and lateral malleolus to anastomose with the anterior lateral malleolar artery (from the anterior tibial artery) as part of the arterial articular network around the ankle.
