  1. Enzyme that catalyzes conversion of a proenzyme to an active one (enteropeptidase [enterokinase]). Important in salvage and recycling of nucleotides. Some antiviral agents work by inactivating viral or tumor kinases
  2. Suffix attached to some enzymes to indicate transformation.
