Pronunciation: kē′tol
Definition: A ketone that has an OH group near the CO group. In an α-ketol, the OH is attached to a carbon atom that is attached to the CO carbon atom; in a β-ketol, one carbon atom intervenes.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
