Pronunciation: hem′ē-ver′tĕ-bră
Definition: A congenital defect of the vertebral column in which one side of a vertebra fails to develop completely due to failure of the chondrification center to form on this side. This produces scoliosis (lateral curvature of the vertebral column).
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
