Definition: A suborder of coccidia (class Sporozoea) that lack syzygy, with separate development of macrogamete and microgamont, the latter producing eight flagellated microgametes; heteroxenous with merogony in vertebrates and sporogony in bloodsucking insects; includes the genera Haemoproteus, Leucocytozoon, and Plasmodium.
