Pronunciation: jer′mīn
Definition: An alkaloid that occurs in Veratrum and Zygandenus species. The drug, like veratrine and veratridine, induces repetitive discharges in nerve cells, seemingly because of derangements in sodium channel function.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
