Definition: imaging of the encephalon by the administration of small amounts of gamma-emitting radiopharmaceuticals; term may be used to refer to any number of particular studies (cerebral perfusion scintigraphy, cerebral neuroreceptor imaging) depending on the radiopharmaceutical used.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
