Definition: a vector (plasmid, yeast, or animal virus genome) used experimentally to introduce foreign genetic material into a propagatable host cell to replicate and amplify the foreign DNA sequences as a recombinant molecule (recombinant DNA cloning of sequences).
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
