Pronunciation: ē-tan′ĕr-sept-en′brel
Definition: A dimeric fusion protein consisting of the extracellular ligand-binding portion of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor linked to the Fc portion of human IgG1. Used in the treatment of inflammatory disorders such as Crohn disease and rheumatoid arthritis.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
