Definition: an epidemic disease characterized by stiffness of the neck and back, headache, diarrhea, fever, and localized muscular weakness; restricted almost exclusively to adults, affecting women more than men; probably viral in origin.
Synonym(s): benign myalgic encephalomyelitis, epidemic myalgic encephalomyelitis, Iceland disease
