Pronunciation: ē-fed′ră
Definition: Ephedra equisetina (family Gnetaceae). Ma huang; the plant source for the alkaloid ephedrine. Indigenous to China and India, it is 0.7% to over 1% ephedrine; also contains some pseudoephedrine.
