Pronunciation: dij′i-toks′ōs
Definition: The sugar moiety obtained by mild acid hydrolysis of the glycosides digitoxin, gitoxin, and digoxin. The hydrolysis yields 3 moles of digitoxose for each mole of the respective aglycon.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
