Dematiaceae
Pronunciation: dē-mat′i-ā′sē-ē
Definition: A family of soil-inhabiting, brown or black melanin-producing fungi found in decaying vegetables, rotting wood, and forest carpets, and including several of the dark-colored genera that cause chromoblastomycosis in humans, such as Exophiala, Phialophora, Fonsecaea, and Cladosporium.
