Pronunciation: dā′nă-zol
Definition: A synthetic steroid used to treat endometriosis, fibrocystic breast disease, and angioedema. Indirectly reduces estrogen production by lowering levels of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
