Definition: an enzyme that catalyzes a step in porphyrin biosynthesis, reacting coproporphyrinogen III and O2 to form protoporphyrinogen IX and 2CO2. A deficiency of this enzyme will result in hereditary coproporphyria.
Examples: glitazone, GI cocktail, etc.
