Medical Term:

compartment for uncoupling receptors and ligands

Definition: special forms of early endosomes. The relatively low pH (6.0) within these vesicles permits ligands to be detached from their receptors. Usually receptors are returned to the cell membrane and ligands are sent to late endosomes for eventual destruction.
