Definition: terminal branch of chorda tympani joining the lingual nerve in the infratemporal fossa; conveys sensory fibers for taste from anterior two thirds of tongue and presynaptic parasympathetic fibers destined for submandibular ganglion for innervation of submandibular and sublingual salivary glands.
